With over 300 days of sunshine per year, there are plenty of things to do and the weather seldom puts a stop to things. The swimming pool is a great way to cool off, or for a little exertion, the perfect size for a game of volleyball. Petanque and Badminton can also be played in the garden. There are so many things to do locally, there are some gentle strolls that the dogs Hugo and Bella will be happy to lead you on, perfect before dinner.Almost on the doorstep is a mountain bike trail (we have bikes you can hire) which leads around neighbouring villages.
There are two fishing lakes closeby (one within walking distance) a larger lake at Lac St Ferreol (15 minutes) is a perfect site for windsurfing, catamarans and pedalos can also be hired there. The lake is used to feed the Canal du Midi, which starts at Avignonet (10 minutes) there is a beautiful stretch of canal between Villefranche and Toulouse, perfect for a stroll, a bike ride (bikes to hire along the canal) or even navigating a boat.
For the Gourmands there are a wealth of local wines, Minervois, Corbieres and the sparkling wine produced in Limoux which is said to pre-date Champagne production. The local market in Revel is officially one of the prettiest in France, it is held on a Saturday morning all year round. The sausage of Toulouse and cassoulet of Castelnaudary are know throughout culinary world. Michelin starred restaurants can also be found within 15 minutes drive, affording an opportunity to sample some excellent cuisine at quite reasonable prices. Revel is also famous for the production of furniture, with over 45 shops selling original antiques, reproduction and modern furniture.
Toulouse is a vibrant and cosmopolitan city, with 3 universities it has a youthful atmosphere. As the sun sets the city is awash with a pink tint, hence it's french nickname - La Ville Rose. (30 minutes)
Carcassonne has a stunning medieval castle and fortress and is the 3rd most visited attraction in France. (35 minutes)
The Mediterranean Sea can be reached in less than an hour, Andorra is just an hour and a half and for those with a taste of adventure head down to Barcelona, just 3 hours drive and a truly stunning city.
